Stella Earrings Process
Consumer Research
The theme for this design was "Red Carpet", so my team and I sent out a survey and completed a focus group interview.​
Inspiration
We then did a trend report to see what kind of jewelry styles were trending as well as a mood board.
Sketching
In total, our group of 6 sketched up 90 designs.
Final 5 Designs

We narrowed down our sketches into 5 final designs following the theme of "surreal nature". I cleaned the designs up digitally and created them in white gold and yellow gold.
Product Chosen
The Kendra Scott team ultimately chose my star earring design to move forward with, which we named the "Stella".
Prototyping
I modeled the earring in Fusion360 and 3D printed it.
We then painted the earrings, bedazzled them, and added earring backs.
I updated the 3D model as well to match the prototype.
Pricing, Specs, and Materials
We worked with a Kendra Scott CAD designer to create a refined Spec sheet and 3D model. Shout out to Mary Cancila!

The final step for this project was to create an online marketing campaign for our piece.
Campaign Objective
We strive to showcase the bold and refreshing nature of the Stella earring, highlighting how its design is distinctly Kendra Scott while remaining versatile enough for the red carpet.

The Stella earring was designed to capture the powerful and inspiring presence of stars in the night sky, bringing elegance and a touch of celestial beauty to the design.

We envision a creative campaign infused with luxury, blending Western charm and elegance with glamour and grace. We strive to showcase the versatility of our bold design.

Inspiration
We needed to create a promotional video and photoshoot for our earrings. Austin's nightlife was the general inspiration. We wanted to illustrate the wearer coming from a red carpet event and relaxing into her true Western self as the night continued.

Fun fact: We recorded this in reverse. So we recorded at night first and during the day last. Also, instead of filming at night, we filmed early in the morning on the same day as Daylight savings. Yes- getting up was as rough as you'd expect. But it was fun!!

I was the keeper of the prototypes, so of course I had to make sure they looked their very best on camera.

In-Store Activity
The raffle is designed to encourage in-store shopping. With every purchase made in-store, customers will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a free pair of Stella Earrings.
Class Reflection
This class has allowed us to learn and explore new opportunities that previously would have gone undiscovered.

We each gained a profound appreciation for the creativity, technical skills, and attention to detail required to bring designs to life.
Working as a team allowed us to strengthen our leadership abilities and entrepreneurial mindset. The collaborative process taught us the importance of trust, respect, and friendship in teamwork.
From sketching and prototyping to marketing and presentation, we each gained lifelong skills thanks to KS WELI and we had so much fun along the way!
The Stella earring is this group's pride and joy. What started as a simple sketch became something more than we could have ever imagined and we’re grateful to have gone through this process and experience with the Kendra Scott team.
